Local brewery Bayou Brews has launched its boldest creation yet: Buffalo Bayou Brown Ale, brewed with water straight from the city’s most iconic (and questionable) waterway.

“This isn’t just beer; it’s a tribute to Houston,” said founder Chad McHops. “Every sip captures the Bayou’s rich history—literally.”
While the brewery claims the water is partially filtered, they’ve left in some “natural elements” for authenticity. “Twigs and traces of industrial runoff add character,” McHops boasted.
Reactions to the murky brew have been mixed. “It tastes earthy, with a hint of regret,” said one local. Another remarked, “It’s unique, but I feel like I need a tetanus shot after drinking it.”
Despite health concerns, the beer has sold out, with plans for future flavors like Cypress Creek Stout and Hurricane Lager.
“We’re not just making beer; we’re making memories,” McHops said. “Possibly unforgettable ones.”
